Sun Pillar and Sundogs






This evening some bright Sundogs at both sides of the Sun.

During sunset and also after sunset I was able to capture a bright Sun Pillar. A Sun pillar is rather rare and are created with six-sided shaped ice chrystals are lying nearly flat when falling down to the ground.

Size of Prominences - Sun in H-alpha

How big are prominences? I took yesterdays picture I made from the Sun and added Earth (on scale) to compare ... amazing! The bright prominence is a little more then 5x times the size of Earth.. 33.000km.



Setting : Nikon D7500 and SolarMaxIII 70/400 f/5.7; ISO400 and 1/30s exposure. Raw data converted to DNG and editing using CS4.

Partial Solar Eclipse in Belgium June 10 2021

On June 10, 2021 a partial Sun Eclipse will take place and will be visible almost over all Europe.
For my nearest town, Diest,  with an 26% coverage, timings are (local time):

Start : 11h18 and Ending : 13h26

M45 Pleiades


The Pleiades, also known as Messier M45 and the Seven Sisters is located in constellation Taurus and about 4000 light years away from Earth.

Setting : Nikon D7500 and TLAPO80/480 f/6. 
    - Session 1 : ISO800-6400 81x30s
    - Session 2 : ISO1250 60x60s
Cameracontrol using DigiCamControl. Stacking with APP and final editing using CS4 and DeNoise AI.
