Evening and Morning Observations

Past night the sky was clear and time to make some observations with my OrionXT12 scope.

Starting with M81, M82, M95, M96, Leo Triplet and M13. Pictures were taken of M82 with ASI224MC but I still need to stack them when time :)

Next observation was Jupiter and I made aswell some pictures using ASI224MC.

In the morning, time to look at the planets Mars and Saturn . Mars was observed with a yellow filter on 8mm with barlow x2. The planet is seen overal red with one edge white (Poles?).

Jupiter was again observed around 2h30 UT and the Great Red Spot (GRS) could be observed at the center of the disk. Some turbulence in the sky but overall a good view.

Planets and Moon in the Morning sky

This morning (and also the next two mornings), both the Moon and three planets are visible in the Morning sky.
Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon are clearly visible above the south-east to south horizon.

Jupiter

Jupiter this evening; moderate seeing as Jupiter was still low above the horizon. Picture taken with Orion XT12 and ASI224MC; stacking using RegiStax and final editing using CS4.

Moon 96%

Beautifull morning with a clear sky and 3°C. The moon is low above the south-west horizon and 96% illulinated.

Weather Summary April

In comparison with previous 4 year, this April 2018 is the most warm and the most wet. I registrated only one air frost day; last year it was 10 days.

Lecture on Space-X @ Urania

On May 26th, a Lecture will be given on Space-X @Urania, Antwerp. With this Lecture, Urania will officialy end it's Calender Year 2017-2018. In September, the new year 2018-2019 will be kicked off.

Jupiter Opposition on May 8&9

Jupiter, the largest and most massive planet of our solar system is at opposition on May 8 & 9. The day after, the planet will be closest to Earth, which is about 4.4 AU or 65MM Km. This all means that the planet is visible the entire night. Have fun.
