Heat waves 2025 and 2026 (so far)
A heat wave is an extended period of anomalously high atmospheric temperatures driven by synoptic-scale anticyclones, where sinking air warms adiabatically and suppresses cloud formation. This allows uninterrupted solar radiation to directly heat the Earth's surface, creating a thermal feedback loop amplified by dry, low-specific-heat sandy soils like those in Averbode. In Belgium, the official threshold requires at least five consecutive days reaching 25 Celsius or higher, with at least three of those days exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. The localized environmental and thermodynamic impacts of these specific atmospheric events in Averbode are outlined below with a comparison of the official data of KMI Uccle.
For Averbode we have more heat waves then official registrated by KMI in Uccle. Also the lenght of the heat waves are longer.
Data is measured using weather station: Levenhuk - WU ISCHER75 or EcoWitt EasyWeatherPro-16ACFC

Supernumerary and double rainbows and a drone image of rainbow
Last week I could capture some special rainbows: double rainbows and supernumerary rainbows.
I took aswell a picture using my DJIO Neo2 drone.... really promising.
Very rare 9° Halo
On June 11, 2026 I could capture a very rare halo. Beside the 22° Halo, there was aswell a 9° halo. I send my picture to Beglium Weather group which confirmed the 9° halo. The 9° halo finds it's origin in pyramid chrystals. See aswell this website : https://www.meteoros.de/themen/halos/haloarten/ee31

VVW Halo and Publication
Since end 2025 I'm a member of the whatsApp groep VVW Halo. The associated WhatsApp group is a private community for members of the Weather association VVW. It is used for real-time weather observations, such as reporting storms, lightning, or optical phenomena like halos and rainbows. The reportings are analysed and published in their monthly magazine Halo.
The first quarter results are published last month including my observations and pictures. Looking at the graphs, a halo could be seen in the mentioned period average every 3 days.

New Weatherstation Levenhuk PRO LP500
I replaced my Oregon WMR200 and BAR928 with a new weatherstation Levenhuk Pro LP500. Both Oregon stations are >10 years old and the sensors did not work anymore. My preference for Levenhuk Pro LP500 was based on following criteria:
- Measuring in/outdoor temperature, humidity, rain, winddirection, windspeed and pressure
- Data capturing of all data in order to do analysis
- Samrtphone connection
