The final result is a graph from the suns orbit at the sky. Typical periods are from june-dec and dec till june. Longer period are not usefull as the suns orbits will be covering existing ones. Make sure setting up the solargraph to the south site.

Making a solargraph is easy and only takes a couple of hours, not more. All starts with using an old can. I typically use a 50cl can. Open the top but not entirely so you can close it easily afterwards. Be carefully and watch the sharp edges. Let the can dry and paint the inside with black paint - you can use a spray for this. Once the paint is dry you can start putting in the photo paper. Use normal paper to have the exact dimensions. Once you have these dimensions go into a dark room with limited light. The use of red light is fine. Fold the photo paper inside the can and fix it with two sides ducktape. Close the can and seal it with water resistant tape. Use some extra as the can will be exposed for 6 months to all kind of weather (snow, rain, sun, freezing and high temperatures). once the can is closed and sealed make a small hole in the can using a needle. The smaller the better as the exposure is long and will give more details of the surrounding area.
