NASA & Belgium Team discovered 7 Earth-like planets just around the corner

In May 2016 the TRAPPIST (TRAnsiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope) telescope in Chile lead by Belgium atronomers found 3 exoplanets around a star which got the name Trappist 1.  Today NASA announced that the Spitzer Space Telescoop confirmed the existance of those 3 exoplanets and found 4 more around the star which is located only 40 light years from our system. All exoplanets are in the habitable zone. See main article from NASA and Belgium related article.

The discoverage has some Belgium roots and "The Washington Post' wrote: "Like Trappist beer, speculoos (Search for Planets EClipsing ULtra-cOOl Stars) are a Belgian delicacy. The next effort will have to be called WAFFLES"
